Building a Fashion Foundation

Making the most of your wardrobe means having pieces that can be mixed and matched. When choosing clothes at the store consider how that piece will be included in your “collection”. Designers call the group of clothes that they have walking down the runway each season a “collection”. All the pieces match and are made of similar colors and fabrics.

Every woman needs certain pieces in her collection. These pieces are:

1. Jeans
2. Black slacks
3. White and Black Tanks
4. Jean Jacket
5. Black Blazer
6. Trench Coat
7. Dress for every season
8. Skirt for every season
9. Dressy flats
10. Black pumps
11. Casual wedge heel
12. Colorful cardigans

These are ALWAYS in style! Choose pieces that are made for your body type. For example, pick a pair of jeans that are boot cut. Boot cut jeans will always be in fashion. Don’t get a pair of skinny jeans just because they are fashionable at the moment. You know if they don’t look good on you!

Building a foundation for your collection is key to having a great wardrobe! Here I’ve shown how to mix basics to come up with several different outfits.
